ABOUT MAARTEN

Maarten Simons.png

As a seasoned Corporate Social Responsibility strategist, I help companies create value and improve their bottom-line by optimizing their unique social impact.

For over 10 years I have developed, managed and executed corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies, and led multi-market programs aimed at creating a global culture of citizenship.

Through my no-nonsense (and as little jargon as possible) approach, I make social impact understandable for everyone, establish effective partnerships between internal departments and turn ambition into reality.

In my role as Vice President Global Citizenship at Edelman, I advanced the company’s environmental, social and governance policies and practices for its 65 offices worldwide. The annual reporting publications I have led received recognition from PRWeek, PRSA and the Publicity Club of Chicago.

I represented Edelman as a member of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship (BCCCC) Professional Services Sustainability Roundtable. This unique affinity group enables members to participate in an ongoing exchange of ideas and best practices with peers, engage with key influencers, understand critical social issues and review changing public policy.

In recent years I collaborated closely with United Nations Global Compact, Impact 2030, Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, GRI, Ecovadis, CDP and Carbon Trust Standard.

Over the last decade I have advised many organizations like PepsiCo, Heineken, Unilever, and the United Nations World Food Program and helped them optimize their social impact potential.

As a speaker, I have been involved in multiple conferences and events, speaking on topics like reporting, sustainable development, change management and reputation management.
